Pearl Harbor Day presentation scheduled at VSMS Wednesday, Dec. 7, 7:00 p.m.
The 2022 Pearl Harbor Day program is scheduled for Wednesday, 7 December 2022, at the Vinton-Shellsburg Middle School LMC starting at 7:00 p.m. The program will include stories of the Medal of Honor recipients of that day as well as a question-and-answer session for the attendees. As in previous years, the centerpiece artifact of the evening is the section of armor from the USS Arizona that the Vinton-Shellsburg Community Schools has caretaken since 2006.

Atkins Light the Night Parade, Sunday, December 11
The Atkins Community Club (ACC) will host its Light The Night parade Sunday, December 11. The parade begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Christmas walk silent auction and Santa and Mrs. Claus at the library, sponsored by AIM. Parade lineup starts at 5:15 p.m. at the north end of Main Street; the route travels south to the library. Fireworks at the soccer field will follow the parade, sponsored by the ACC.
