Winter Carnival (December 29) provides fun for children during Winter Break
Get out of the house during the holiday break! On Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 10:00 AM 12:00 AM all grade school youth can take part in this fun carnival. Tickets to play games are only 25 cents each.LOCATION: Skate & Activity Center
Christmas Dinner for those Alone or Without on Christmas
The Vinton Presbyterian Church will serve the community this Christmas with a meal provided for those alone or in need of a little Christmas this year. The free Christmas dinner will be served on Christmas Day, December 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.An RSVP is required by December 19. Santa Paws will be at Better Together (211 West 4th Street) Saturday, December 10th from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. Please help us raise funds for the cats in our care by bringing your human and furry, finned & feathered family members out for a picture with Santa! Each 4x6 printed copy is just $5 and $15 for a digital copy.At the event, we will also have Pup Cups and Cattuccinos available for a free-will offering (available inside and curbside!). Pearl Harbor Day presentation scheduled at VSMS Wednesday, Dec. 7, 7:00 p.m.
The 2022 Pearl Harbor Day program is scheduled for Wednesday, 7 December 2022, at the Vinton-Shellsburg Middle School LMC starting at 7:00 p.m. The program will include stories of the Medal of Honor recipients of that day as well as a question-and-answer session for the attendees. As in previous years, the centerpiece artifact of the evening is the section of armor from the USS Arizona that the Vinton-Shellsburg Community Schools has caretaken since 2006.
Register for Breakfast with Santa Today!
Breakfast with Santa is an annual event held at the Skate Center for all the children and parents to enjoy. On Saturday, December 10, from 9-10 a.m. breakfast will be served. The cost is $5.00 per person. From 10-11 a.m. children can have their pictures taken with Santa. Kids will go home with a coloring book and crayons from Santa. To register CLICK HERE. The Atkins Community Club (ACC) will host its Light The Night parade Sunday, December 11. The parade begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Christmas walk silent auction and Santa and Mrs. Claus at the library, sponsored by AIM. Parade lineup starts at 5:15 p.m. at the north end of Main Street; the route travels south to the library. Fireworks at the soccer field will follow the parade, sponsored by the ACC.
